Coarsegold Youth Pastor Joshua David Kemper Arrested for Sexual Assault of Minor

Joshua David Kemper, a 47-year-old youth pastor from Coarsegold, California, was arrested on multiple felony charges related to sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old girl. The investigation, initiated on July 28, 2025, after church officials reported inappropriate conduct, revealed that Kemper engaged in a sexual relationship with the victim from March to July 2025, with incidents occurring at the church, the victim's home, and inside Kemper's vehicle. Investigators uncovered extensive digital grooming behaviors, including explicit messages, photos, and videos exchanged via a VoIP phone number and social media accounts used by Kemper to conceal communications. Kemper declined to provide a statement and retained legal counsel following his arrest at his home in Coarsegold on October 27, 2025. Law enforcement officials praised the courage of the victim and her family and indicated that there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
