West Indies Women face Scotland in WC Qualifiers opener

The West Indies Women will kick off their campaign for the 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup qualifiers by facing Scotland on April 9 in Lahore, Pakistan. This round-robin tournament, running from April 9-19, includes teams such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, and Scotland, all vying for the last two spots in the World Cup scheduled for later this year in India. The West Indies, led by Hayley Matthews, will also play against Ireland, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Thailand in their group matches. ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed confidence in the competitiveness of the tournament, wishing all teams good luck as they prepare for this critical competition. The tournament's format consists of 15 matches, where the top two teams will qualify for the World Cup. Notably, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka have already secured their places in the World Cup by finishing in the top six of the ICC Women's Championship.
