WeRide Launches Level-4 Robotaxis in Shanghai, Expands to 10 Cities

WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, has secured a Level 4 autonomous Robotaxi permit from the Shanghai municipal government, allowing it to operate fully driverless ride-hailing services in the Pudong New Area. This marks WeRide's entry into its tenth city worldwide and highlights its strategic partnership with Chery Group and Jinjiang Taxi, aiming to deploy mass-produced Robotaxis, including the CER model built on WeRide's autonomous platform and Chery's EV architecture. The service connects key transport hubs and tourist landmarks such as Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Disney Resort, and rides can be booked via the Jinjiang Smart Mobility WeChat mini-program. WeRide's achievement reflects its adaptability to diverse regulatory environments and complements its global expansion efforts in other markets like the UAE, France, Singapore, and Spain.
