Two Troopers Ambushed in Susquehanna County Standoff
Two Pennsylvania state troopers, Joseph Perechinsky and William Jenkins, were ambushed and shot while responding to a welfare check in Thompson Township, Susquehanna County, on Thursday morning. The unnamed suspect, armed with a rifle, opened fire, seriously injuring both troopers, who were airlifted to hospitals and are now in stable condition. A standoff ensued before the suspect was shot and killed by police after refusing to comply with commands. Governor Josh Shapiro expressed support for the troopers, while officials praised the lifesaving actions of Perechinsky and a third trooper who assisted. Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the incident remains under investigation. This marks the fifth and sixth Pennsylvania state troopers shot since January 2023.
