NBA Star Naz Reid’s Sister Fatally Shot in New Jersey; Boyfriend Charged With Murder

Toraya Reid, the 28-year-old sister of Minnesota Timberwolves NBA star Naz Reid, was fatally shot at the Paragon Apartment Complex in Jackson Township, New Jersey. The suspect, Shaquille Green, 29, who was in a dating relationship with Toraya, was arrested near the scene and charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, along with local police units, conducted the investigation identifying Green as responsible. Naz Reid posted pictures of himself and his sister on social media but has not made a public statement regarding her death. Toraya's sister, Jakahya Smith, expressed her grief and anger on social media, emphasizing the personal loss beyond her association with the NBA star. The tragedy occurred shortly after Naz Reid signed a five-year, $125 million extension contract with the Timberwolves, marking the start of his seventh season with the team.
