Philadelphia Police Officer Jaime Roman, who was shot in the neck during a traffic stop in Kensington on June 22, has died from his injuries after being on life support for over two months. Roman, a six-year veteran of the force, was shot by Ramon Rodriguez Vazquez, who fled the scene and later held a man hostage before being arrested by SWAT officers. Roman passed away on September 10, surrounded by family. The incident has been described as senseless by Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel, who along with Mayor Cherelle Parker, expressed deep condolences to Roman's family. The city plans to hold a procession in honor of Officer Roman.
