Parliament has completed the Budget process for 2024-25, with the Rajya Sabha returning the Appropriation Bill and Finance Bill to the Lok Sabha following Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's presentation on July 23. Emphasizing the Budget's focus on promoting investments and job creation, Sitharaman asserted that it balances growth, employment, capital expenditure, and fiscal consolidation. She also addressed concerns regarding insolvency cases, stating that defaulting promoters cannot re-bid for their companies. Additionally, Sitharaman refuted claims from opposition members about reduced allocations for key sectors, highlighting an increase in funds for agriculture from Rs 1.44 lakh crore to Rs 1.52 lakh crore. The Budget process is now complete with all relevant bills returned to the Lok Sabha for final approval.
