California residents can now add their driver's licenses or state IDs to Apple Wallet, allowing them to present digital IDs at select TSA checkpoints and businesses using their iPhones or Apple Watches. This feature is part of California's mobile driver's license (mDL) pilot program, which is limited to 1.5 million participants. The move follows a similar rollout for Google Wallet users last month. Governor Gavin Newsom highlighted the partnership with Apple and Google as a step towards improving state services with everyday technology. Other states supporting digital IDs in Apple Wallet include Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, and Ohio, with Montana, New Mexico, and West Virginia planned next. Users can add their IDs by following simple steps in the Wallet app, ensuring privacy and security during the process.
