Laura Weir Named CEO of British Fashion Council

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has appointed Laura Weir as its new CEO, effective April 28, 2025, succeeding Caroline Rush, who has led the organization for 15 years. Weir, the current executive creative director at Selfridges, is recognized for her extensive experience in the fashion industry, including roles at Drapers, British Vogue, and The Sunday Times. She aims to drive growth, innovation, and inclusivity in British fashion while supporting emerging and established designers. Weir expressed her commitment to enhancing the BFC's international presence and forging partnerships with industry and government to address critical challenges such as environmental responsibility. Her appointment comes at a crucial time for the industry, with ongoing issues regarding London's status as a fashion capital. The transition will allow Rush to assist Weir until June 2025, ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities.
