Filming Begins on 'Whalefall' Thriller Starring Shue, Brolin, Abrams in Los Angeles
The movie adaptation of Daniel Kraus' novel 'Whalefall' is progressing with a star-studded cast including Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy, Emily Rudd, Austin Abrams, and Josh Brolin. Directed and co-written by Brian Duffield alongside Kraus, the thriller follows a scuba diver who becomes trapped inside a massive sperm whale while searching for his late father's remains and has only one hour to escape before his oxygen runs out. The film, described as 'The Martian meets 127 Hours,' explores themes of survival and finding a renewed will to live in dire circumstances. Produced by Imagine Entertainment with Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum, production is set to begin soon in Los Angeles. The cast features actors known for recent acclaimed roles, including Shue in 'The Boys' and Ortiz in 'American Fiction,' while the screenplay was co-written by the director and the original author to bring a suspenseful and cinematic experience to the screen.
