Massive Russian Airstrike Injures 15 in Kyiv

On the night of May 24, Kyiv was targeted in one of the largest combined aerial assaults by Russia in three years, involving dozens of drones and ballistic missiles. The attack primarily affected the Dniprovsky, Solomyansky, Obolonsky, and Holosiivskyi districts, damaging residential buildings, a shopping center, an educational institution, and other infrastructure. At least 15 civilians were injured, including a couple in the Dniprovsky district and several others in Solomyansky where drone debris caused a fire in an apartment. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted many of the incoming missiles and drones, but several struck their targets causing significant damage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as a war crime and called for increased international sanctions on Russia to compel a ceasefire. Despite the ongoing hostilities, fresh peace talks are planned following a recent prisoner exchange, though trust between Moscow and Kyiv remains low.
