Wildfires Force Evacuations Across Multiple Regions
Wildfires in northern Alberta, Canada, have forced the evacuation of three communities, affecting around 5,000 people as the province deals with 158 active wildfires. British Columbia is also battling significant wildfire activity, with 319 active fires prompting evacuation orders and alerts, particularly for areas like Ashcroft and near Spences Bridge. The Shetland Creek fire in B.C. has doubled in size, leading to additional evacuation orders and warnings. Over 1,000 firefighters are engaged in battling these blazes across both provinces, with hot and dry weather exacerbating the situation. In addition, the Miller Peak Fire near Missoula, Montana, has expanded to 2,385 acres with no containment. The cause of many of these fires is attributed to lightning, and weather conditions are expected to remain challenging.
