MacKenzie Scott Sells $8 Billion in Amazon Shares

MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire philanthropist and ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has sold another 11% of her Amazon shares, valued at over $8 billion, as reported on November 8. This sale brings her total Amazon shares sold or donated to 255 million, worth approximately $37 billion. Scott's net worth has decreased from $38 billion to $30 billion, significantly lower than her peak of $59 billion in 2021, due largely to her philanthropic efforts, which include over $17.3 billion donated to nonprofits. Following her divorce settlement in 2019, she received around 400 million Amazon shares, of which she has sold or donated two-thirds in less than six years. Recent donations include $1.5 million to the Mni Sota Fund and $10 million to Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs. Despite her declining net worth, Scott remains one of the top five living philanthropists in the U.S.
