Madrid beat Getafe to reclaim LaLiga lead
Real Madrid beat Getafe 1-0 at the Coliseum, with Kylian Mbappé scoring in the 80th minute. The goal followed a chaotic spell in which substitute Allan Nyom was shown a straight red about 40 seconds after coming on and Álex Sancris was later sent off for a second yellow, leaving Getafe with nine men. Mbappé’s strike was his 10th of the LaLiga season and extended a run of scoring in 13 of his last 14 appearances and in 11 straight matches. Thibaut Courtois preserved the win with a close‑range stoppage‑time save as Getafe — who managed just one attempt on target — nearly equalized. The victory moved Real Madrid back to the top of LaLiga ahead of next weekend’s El Clásico and a midweek Champions League tie with Juventus, achieved despite multiple defensive absences that forced Xabi Alonso to start David Alaba alongside Éder Militão and deploy Federico Valverde at right‑back; Kylian Mbappé and Franco Mastantuono returned from minor knocks. Getafe remain midtable and have been without a recent win.
