Former Akron Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

Geoffrey Parker, a suspended Akron police officer, has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to child pornography, including illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and gross sexual imposition, in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. The 34-year-old faces a maximum sentence of 61 to 65 years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for November 26. Parker was arrested in August after a nude photo of a 4-year-old girl was traced back to him by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. He remains on unpaid administrative leave from the police department and is being held on a $1 million bond. Court records indicate he previously pleaded not guilty but changed his plea nearly two weeks before a jury trial was set to begin. Following his sentencing, Parker will be classified as a Tier 2 sexual offender.
