Benni McCarthy Named Kenya's Head Coach with 2-Year Deal

Benni McCarthy, a former South Africa international and Manchester United coach, has been appointed as the head coach of Kenya's national football team on a two-year contract. McCarthy aims to lead the Harambee Stars to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will co-host with Tanzania and Uganda. Currently, Kenya is fourth in their World Cup qualifying group, trailing leaders Ivory Coast by five points. McCarthy's debut matches will be against The Gambia and Gabon in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Known for his successful playing career, McCarthy was South Africa's all-time leading scorer and played for clubs such as Porto, Blackburn Rovers, and West Ham United.
