Waymo Expands Autonomous Service Area to 90 Square Miles in Austin

Alphabet's Waymo has more than doubled its autonomous robotaxi service area in Austin from 37 to 90 square miles, significantly outpacing Tesla’s recent expansion to 42 square miles. The expanded coverage now includes neighborhoods such as Crestview, Windsor Park, Sunset Valley, Franklin Park, and popular destinations like The Domain, McKinney Falls State Park, and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Waymo's service, operating 24/7 without waitlists, is offered through a partnership with Uber and currently includes over 100 vehicles in Austin, with plans for further scaling.
