HBO Max Orders Big Bang Theory Multiverse Spin-Off
HBO Max has officially greenlit a new Big Bang Theory spin-off series titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, starring Kevin Sussman reprising his role as comic book store owner Stuart Bloom. The show, executive produced by original creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady alongside Zak Penn, will center on Stuart's quest to restore reality after accidentally breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, which causes a multiverse Armageddon. Supporting characters include Stuart's girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and the quantum physicist Barry Kripke, with appearances by alternate-universe versions of familiar Big Bang Theory characters. This sci-fi comedy marks a distinct departure from previous spin-offs like Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage by exploring a multiverse concept. HBO Max chairman Casey Bloys highlighted the continuation of the franchise's legacy through the creative team’s vision. While details on the release date and whether the series will be available on linear TV remain unannounced, the new series reflects a bold expansion of the Big Bang Theory universe.
