Lyft Launches Nationwide Pet Rides Service

Lyft has launched 'Pet Rides', a highly requested feature that allows riders to connect with drivers who are comfortable transporting pets, coinciding with National Dog Day. For an additional fee of $4 plus tax, riders can ensure they are paired with pet-friendly drivers, who will receive the full surcharge amount. This service aims to provide a more reliable option for pet owners who previously faced uncertainty about whether their driver would accept pets. Lyft's executive team highlighted that these new offerings not only facilitate pet transport but also promote responsible pet ownership. In addition to Pet Rides, Lyft has introduced earned wage access for drivers and enhanced financial tools through Lyft Direct, improving driver experience. The rollout of Pet Rides is seen as a strategic move to compete with similar services offered by Uber since 2021.
