MPs Probe Prince Andrew's Royal Lodge Lease
Former Royal Protection chief Dai Davies and relatives of Virginia Giuffre have called for Prince Andrew to be formally investigated and interviewed by police over Giuffre’s allegations, which he denies. The controversy has intensified since the King stripped Andrew of his royal titles and Giuffre’s family have called for “more justice.” MPs led by the Public Accounts Committee chair Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown have written to the Treasury and the Crown Estate demanding explanations for Andrew’s 75‑year, effectively “peppercorn” lease of the 30‑room Royal Lodge and whether it represents value for money, including queries about maintenance and any taxpayer-funded works. The PAC has sought the lease rationale, unredacted documentation and a status update, reportedly setting a deadline of 28 November, and ministers including Keir Starmer have signalled openness to parliamentary scrutiny. The King’s team is reportedly in talks with Andrew about him leaving Royal Lodge as questions continue over whether the arrangement remains appropriate given he is no longer a working royal. The Crown Estate and Treasury have not publicly responded to the PAC’s requests.
