Couple Arrested for Over 10 Bank Robberies

Andrew Bekman, 31, and Amira Askew, 28, were arrested in Clark County for their suspected involvement in over 10 bank robberies across Oregon and Washington, including the Umpqua Bank robbery on November 6. Following a public tip-off, law enforcement executed a search warrant at their home in Battle Ground, uncovering clothing, firearms, ballistic vests, stolen vehicles, and a note stating, 'This is a robbery. I have a gun. Empty your till.' Both suspects confessed to the Umpqua Bank robbery and are believed to have committed multiple other offenses dating back to June 2024. During the November 6 incident, they threatened staff while implying they had a gun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The investigation continues as authorities seek to link Bekman and Askew to additional robberies in the Portland-Vancouver area.
