Czech Republic Funds Ammunition for Ukraine

The Czech Republic is set to use interest accrued from approximately $300 billion in frozen Russian assets to supply additional large-caliber ammunition to Ukraine, as announced by the Czech Defence Ministry. This initiative, supported by EU member states, allocates 1.4 billion euros in profits from these assets for military assistance to Ukraine, which has been ongoing since June. Defence Minister Jana Černochová emphasized the importance of this funding in facilitating the procurement of hundreds of thousands of rounds of ammunition. The Czech initiative aims to deliver between 50,000 to 100,000 projectiles monthly, potentially totaling 500,000 by year-end. The Kremlin has condemned this plan as 'theft' and threatened legal action against those involved. This move reflects a broader commitment within the EU to bolster Ukraine's defense amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
