Las Cruces Establishes Family Assistance Center for Young Park Shooting Victims
In response to the tragic mass shooting at Young Park, Las Cruces Police and Fire Departments, alongside community support organizations, are establishing a Family Assistance and Resource Center on March 23. This center will provide crucial services such as crisis and spiritual counseling, as well as assistance in connecting victims with local resources and financial support. The center aims to support those affected from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Las Cruces Convention Center. Community leaders, including former mayor Ken Miyagishima, emphasize the importance of unity and resilience during this difficult time, as investigations into the incident continue. Additionally, Doña Ana County has made resources available for emotional support, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico is also accepting donations to assist victims and their families.
