Naeher and Sentnor Win 2024 U.S. Soccer Awards
Alyssa Naeher, the goalkeeper for the Chicago Red Stars, has been named the 2024 U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year after an exceptional year, including winning an Olympic gold medal and retiring from international soccer. She received 40.8% of the votes, surpassing last year's winner Naomi Girma, and also earned The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award. This marks her as only the second goalkeeper to win this U.S. Soccer award since its inception in 1985. Meanwhile, Utah Royals forward Ally Sentnor has been voted the 2024 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year. Sentnor, a standout in the U.S. youth national teams and a top NWSL draft pick, received 55.8% of the votes. Her performances at the Under-20 Women's World Cup, where she was captain and won the Bronze Ball, impressed voters and secured her the prestigious award.
