Ukraine Probes Execution of 16 POWs by Russia
Ukrainian prosecutors have launched an investigation into what they describe as the largest mass execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war by Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion. The incident reportedly took place near Pokrovsk, eastern Ukraine, where 16 Ukrainian soldiers were allegedly shot after surrendering. Grainy drone footage, widely circulated on social media, appears to show the soldiers being executed by Russian troops, a violation of the Geneva Conventions. Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin condemned the act as a deliberate policy by the Russian military and political leadership, highlighting that this execution is part of a broader pattern of war crimes. Kyiv continues to document extensive war crimes committed by Russian forces. Moscow has yet to comment on these allegations.
