Two Arrested in Stanley Fatal Shooting Investigation

In County Durham, police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in his 50s, which occurred on Elm Street, Stanley, following reports of a disturbance. Despite paramedics' efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 37-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remain in custody. Police have established a cordon around the area while specialist crime scene investigators and officers conduct house-to-house inquiries. The victim's family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
