Crosby, MacKinnon join Team Canada for IIHF World Championship

Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, both from Nova Scotia and close friends, will join Team Canada for the upcoming IIHF World Championship following their NHL teams' recent playoff eliminations. Crosby, returning to the World Championship for the first time since 2015, will again serve as captain and brings a decorated international résumé, including Olympic and World Cup gold medals. MacKinnon, fresh off an MVP performance at the 4 Nations Face-Off, confirmed his participation after a strong but ultimately disappointing playoff run with the Colorado Avalanche. The Canadian roster is shaping up to be star-studded, also including NHL talents like Travis Konecny, Macklin Celebrini, and Brandon Montour, under the management of Kyle Dubas and coaching of Dean Evason. Both Crosby and MacKinnon are motivated by the opportunity to play meaningful international hockey after early postseason exits. Team Canada begins tournament play in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 10 against Slovakia.
