Delaware Man Arrested in Maryland Murder Case
Delaware State Police have arrested 28-year-old Fernando Medino-Moreta of Lincoln, DE, in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Franklin Abraham Perez Rodriguez in Salisbury, Maryland, on June 10, 2024. Medino-Moreta was apprehended in Millsboro after an anonymous tip, and police recovered a loaded handgun reported stolen from Pennsylvania during the traffic stop. He faces multiple charges, including first- and second-degree murder, possession of a stolen firearm, and being a fugitive from another state, and is awaiting extradition to Maryland. The arrest resulted from coordinated efforts between Delaware and Maryland law enforcement agencies. Separately, Delaware State Police identified Gregory Painter as the man fatally shot by troopers after he charged at them with a knife, marking Delaware's first fatal officer-involved shooting of the year. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
