Man Critical After Westlink Crash, Driver Arrested
A 27-year-old man has been arrested following a serious crash on the Westlink in Belfast that left a 52-year-old driver in critical condition. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when a Mini Cooper, driven erratically, failed to stop for police and subsequently collided with a Peugeot 208. The Peugeot driver sustained serious injuries, including a suspected fractured pelvis and broken ribs, and is currently in stable condition at the Royal Victoria Hospital. In a separate incident on Wednesday, a man in his 30s remains in serious condition after a collision between a black BMW X5 and a taxi on the Andersonstown Road, which also resulted in minor injuries to two others. Police are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage from both accidents to aid their investigations. Both collisions have prompted significant public concern regarding road safety in the area.
