Chandigarh Police have arrested six individuals involved in a significant immigration fraud scheme that swindled over Rs 65 lakh from approximately 45 victims. The operation, led by the consultancy 'Global Consultant', deceived clients into paying large sums for work visas to Azerbaijan, only for them to discover at the airport that their tickets were fake. The main accused, Sanjeev Kumar, has a history of similar fraudulent activities and had reopened a new consultancy after the fraud was exposed. This case is part of a broader increase in immigration scams in India, with Delhi Police reporting a rise in arrests related to such frauds over the past year. Victims are advised to be cautious and to verify the legitimacy of immigration consultancies before making payments, as many have fallen prey to similar scams.
