German Intelligence Reports High Likelihood of Covid Lab Leak

German intelligence officials have reportedly concluded there is an 80 to 90 percent probability that Covid-19 leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as part of a secret project codenamed Project Saaremaa initiated in 2020. This assertion aligns with similar views from U.S. intelligence agencies, including the CIA and FBI, which have also suggested a lab-related origin for the virus. Both German and American assessments highlight concerns about safety violations at the lab but stop short of definitively confirming a lab leak as the source. China's foreign ministry has dismissed these claims, emphasizing that investigations should be led by scientists and referring to earlier WHO findings that deemed a lab leak unlikely.
