Ukrainian Hacktivists Uncover Russian Pilots' Identities

The Ukrainian hacktivist group InformNapalm executed a deceptive scheme involving the wives of Russian pilots, leading them to unknowingly pose for a calendar photoshoot that revealed their husbands' identities. Presenting the initiative as a morale-boosting effort for soldiers, the group convinced the wives to don their husbands' medals and uniforms in front of a Russian fighter jet, subsequently capturing crucial details about the pilots. This operation specifically targeted the 960th Assault Aviation Regiment, accused of war crimes during a 2022 airstrike on a theater in Mariupol that resulted in numerous civilian deaths. InformNapalm's actions were aimed at identifying members linked to these attacks, and they have submitted their findings to the International Criminal Court for further investigation. The ruse included hacking the email of Colonel Sergey Atroshchenko, the regiment's commander, to gain personal information and facilitate the deception. This tactical exposure highlights InformNapalm's ongoing commitment to resistance against Russian military actions in Ukraine.
