Her husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, faces charges of illegal witness tampering, with suspicions that his associates paid a key witness to retract incriminating statements. The investigation revealed that Bruni-Sarkozy deleted messages exchanged with Michele Marchand, who was charged with witness tampering. Bruni-Sarkozy's lawyers have not commented on the charges.
