Meanwhile, on July 15, U.S. Border Patrol agents in California seized 92 pounds of cocaine, valued at over $1 million, from a concealed compartment in an SUV at an immigration checkpoint. The drug bust was facilitated by a K-9 unit that alerted agents to the presence of narcotics. Both incidents highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the U.S., with CBP reporting substantial seizures throughout the fiscal year, including over 22,000 pounds of cocaine already confiscated at the U.S.-Mexico border. The drivers involved in these cases have been turned over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
