Kings defeat Blues 2-1 in OT, end 5-game skid
Quinton Byfield scored the game-winning goal just 27 seconds into overtime, leading the Los Angeles Kings to a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues, ending a five-game losing streak. Byfield's goal, his 13th of the season, came after a turnover by Adrian Kempe, who also assisted on the play. Anze Kopitar contributed a goal, while Darcy Kuemper made 19 saves for the Kings. The Blues' Nick Leddy scored his first goal of the season, tying the game in the third period, as Joel Hofer made 22 saves to help St. Louis maintain wild-card contention. This match marked the debut of Andrei Kuzmenko for the Kings, who struggled with the power play. Notably, Kopitar and Doughty’s goal connection reached its 307th instance, tying them for the second-most in NHL history among forward-defenseman pairs.
