Massachusetts Man Sentenced in Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend

Shaun Holiday, a 30-year-old from Brockton, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 25 to 30 years in state prison, followed by an additional consecutive 5 to 10 years, for shooting his pregnant girlfriend, Amanda Holyoke, in the head in 2020, leaving her permanently blind. The attack occurred in their apartment while their three young children were present. Holiday was convicted of armed assault in a dwelling, home invasion, armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery, assault and battery upon a pregnant person, and reckless endangerment of a child. Investigators found that Holiday arrived at the apartment, attacked Holyoke from behind, and shot her with a .40 caliber firearm; the bullet exited her temple and lodged in his forearm. After the shooting, Holiday fled the scene but later returned before being apprehended by police. His probation includes no contact with victims, GPS monitoring with exclusion zones, and mandatory participation in an intimate partner abuse prevention program.
