Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa has officially withdrawn from the 2025 US Open due to an ongoing back injury that has plagued her throughout the year. The world No. 10, who last played at Wimbledon where she suffered a first-round defeat, has been sidelined since and also missed several North American hard-court events including Washington, Montreal, and Cincinnati. Badosa revealed she suffered a tear in her psoas muscle, contributing to her decision to prioritize health and recovery over competing in the year's final Grand Slam. Her withdrawal also cancels her mixed doubles participation with Britain's Jack Draper. Tournament organizers announced that Switzerland's Jil Teichmann will replace Badosa in the main draw, with Alizé Cornet as a potential alternate. Badosa, a former world No. 2, expressed emotional regret at missing the US Open, a tournament where she reached the quarterfinals last year and holds a strong connection with the city and its fans.
