The Raleigh Sports & Entertainment District, a $1 billion mixed-use development, was unveiled today, promising to transform an 80-acre site near Carter-Finley Stadium into a vibrant hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. The first phase, set to begin in December 2025, will feature over 200,000 square feet of retail, 150,000 square feet of office space, a 150-key hotel, and more than 500 apartments, along with an expanded plaza designed for tailgating. This development aims to enhance the experience of fans attending games and events at the nearby arena, as well as create year-round activities and amenities. The project is spearheaded by Pacific Elm Properties and Gale Force Sports and Entertainment, with leadership from Hurricanes Holdings' CEO Brian Fork, who emphasized its potential as a regional economic driver. The first phase will also include significant infrastructure improvements, such as two new parking garages expected to be completed by 2027. To move forward, the Hurricanes will need to secure property rezoning, with plans to file an application later this month.
