Neeraj Chopra Competes Janusz Kusocinski Memorial Poland
Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, having recently surpassed the 90-meter mark with a 90.23m throw at the Doha Diamond League, is set to compete at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 in Chorzow, Poland. This event, scheduled for May 23, marks Chopra's third competition of the year, where he aims to build on his momentum and possibly surpass his personal best. Despite his milestone throw, Chopra finished second in Doha behind Germany's Julian Weber, who threw 91.06m, and he will face stiff competition again from Weber as well as two-time world champion Anderson Peters. Chopra’s former coach praised his creativity and mental effort in training, expressing confidence that Chopra could soon reach throws of 92 to 94 meters. Originally planned to participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru, Chopra’s schedule shifted due to geopolitical tensions, leading him to focus on international events. With improved fitness and guidance from legendary thrower Jan Zelezny, Chopra aims to defend his World Championship title and continue his progression in the sport.
