Man arrested for strangulation
Warren Luther Alexander, a 73-year-old man from Mississippi, has been charged with the strangulation murders of three women in Southern California in 1977, following a DNA match discovered by cold case detectives. He made his initial court appearance, but his arraignment on three counts of first-degree murder has been postponed to August 21, and he remains in custody without bail. The victims, all sex workers in Ventura County, were found murdered in a series of linked cases that had gone cold for decades. District Attorney Erik Nasarenko emphasized that all three women were killed by ligature strangulations. Alexander was extradited from North Carolina, where he faces charges for a separate cold case murder from 1992. Investigative genealogy has also connected him to the unsolved murder of 29-year-old Nona Cobb in North Carolina, raising concerns that there may be more victims.
