Israeli Soldier Yona Betzalel Brief Dies From Injuries

Sergeant First Class Yona Betzalel Brief, a 23-year-old combat medic from Modi'in, died after succumbing to injuries sustained during Hamas's attack on October 7, 2023. He was critically wounded while defending Kibbutz Kfar Aza and had been on life support for over a year. Brief had previously been injured in May 2023 but returned to service and participated in the fierce battle, where he was shot multiple times while rescuing wounded civilians. His death contributes to a tragic toll of over 1,200 lives lost during the October 7 attack, which also saw 805 Israeli soldiers killed during ongoing conflict. The Israeli military has been conducting operations in response to the attacks, which have led to significant casualties in Gaza as well. Brief is survived by his parents and five siblings, who mourn the loss of a hero.
