Two Kayakers Found Dead in Long Island Shinnecock Bay

Two men, Shane Garcia, 27, and Aaron Montemarano, 25, went missing during a kayaking trip in Shinnecock Bay, Long Island. Garcia's body was recovered underwater by New York State Police divers on Sunday after their kayaks and paddles were found washed ashore near Shinnecock East County Park. The extensive search for Montemarano continued into Monday, involving multiple agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, Southampton Town Police, state police divers, drone and ATV units, and Suffolk County helicopters. Garcia had sent a selfie with Montemarano to his girlfriend hours before they were reported missing, and his work van was found parked near the launch site. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Southampton Town Police Detective Division. The tragic incident follows a separate high-profile case of a kayaker who staged his disappearance earlier this year.
