Former Assam Congress chief Ripun Bora has rejoined the Congress party after resigning from his position as the state president of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Bora, who left Congress in April 2022, cited the perception of TMC as a 'regional party' of West Bengal as a key reason for his departure. During his return, he emphasized the need to strengthen Congress to counter the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's government, stating that the people of Assam are dissatisfied with its governance. Bora's rejoining was welcomed by AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh and other Congress leaders at an Extended Executive Committee meeting in Charaideo. Along with Bora, several TMC functionaries also joined Congress, reinforcing the party's ambitions in Assam. His return marks a significant shift in the political landscape, as Bora aims to unite efforts against corruption and communalism under the Congress banner.
