Amcor to Acquire Berry Global for $8.4 Billion
Amcor, the world's largest consumer packaging group, has agreed to acquire Berry Global Group in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $8.4 billion. Berry shareholders will receive 7.25 Amcor shares for each share they own, valuing Berry's stock at $73.59 per share, which includes a 10% premium. This merger will create a combined entity with 400 packaging plants, employing 75,000 staff and serving thousands of customers in the consumer and healthcare sectors. The deal is expected to enhance long-term shareholder value with projected earnings growth rates increasing from 10%-15% to 13%-18% per annum. The merger has received unanimous approval from both companies' boards and is targeted for completion in mid-2025, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals. Amcor will maintain its primary listing on the NYSE and the global headquarters will be in Zurich, Switzerland.
