Syria Arrests Hezbollah Cell, Seizes Arms Damascus Countryside

Syrian security forces, working in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate, have arrested a cell affiliated with Lebanon's Hezbollah militia operating in the Damascus countryside, specifically in the towns of Sa’sa and Kanaker. The group was reportedly trained in military camps in Lebanon and was planning attacks inside Syria that threatened national security and citizens' stability. Authorities seized a significant cache of weapons, including Grad rockets, rocket launch platforms, anti-tank missiles, light weapons, and large amounts of ammunition during the operation. The case has been handed over to judicial authorities, and investigations are ongoing to uncover the cell's broader network and objectives. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group and former key ally of ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad, has lost a major supply route through Syria since the change in Syrian leadership. This crackdown indicates continued Syrian efforts to dismantle militant networks associated with Hezbollah within its territory.
