Universal Studios Plans Europe’s Largest Theme Park in Bedford

Universal Studios is set to open its first amusement park in Europe, located in Bedford, England, on a 192-hectare site that was previously an industrial area. Scheduled to open in 2031, the park is expected to be the largest in Europe, attracting an estimated 8.5 million visitors annually and generating significant economic benefits, including around 50 billion euros by 2055. The project, which could create about 28,000 jobs, includes plans for a 500-room hotel and various themed attractions, although specific rides have yet to be confirmed. The UK government has signed a multi-billion-pound investment deal to support the park's development, marking a historic milestone for Universal. This venture follows previous attempts to establish a theme park in the UK dating back to the late 1980s, showcasing the company's long-standing interest in the region. Comcast NBCUniversal emphasizes that this park will enhance its global theme park portfolio, building on its experiences from Orlando and other locations.
