Hit-and-Runs Injure People in Three Cities
Separate hit-and-run collisions in Nottingham (U.K.), South Brunswick, N.J., and San Antonio injured multiple people. In Nottingham a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries and an 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and drink- and drug-driving. In South Brunswick police used debris, surveillance footage, part-number tracing and an Axon automatic license plate reader to locate a damaged 2009 Toyota Corolla and arrest 40-year-old Carlos Romero-Garcia on charges including leaving the scene with serious bodily injury; the bicyclist suffered broken bones in his back and head injuries but was treated and released. In San Antonio a man reported to be in his 20s or 30s was struck by a blue sedan on South Flores Street shortly before 11 p.m.; he was hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to recover while police continue searching for the vehicle and driver and no arrests have been reported.
