Global Gaza Flotilla Activists Released Across Multiple Countries

Several countries are facilitating the return of their citizens who were detained by Israel after participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian effort to break the blockade on Gaza. Brazil confirmed that 13 of its nationals, including lawmaker Luizianne Lins, were released at the Jordan border and are returning home after six days in Israeli detention. Ireland is repatriating 15 activists, with flights bringing them back to Dublin after their interception and detention in Israel; the Irish government praised the efforts to secure their release despite reports of mistreatment. Slovakia arranged the return of nine activists, including nationals from the Netherlands, Canada, the U.S., and one Slovak, following Israel's deportation of 171 flotilla participants to Greece and Slovakia. Switzerland has been actively involved in securing the return of its detained citizens, with nine activists deported to Istanbul and ongoing consular support for those still held in Israeli detention. Meanwhile, the U.S., under President Trump's administration, has expressed support for a ceasefire plan in Gaza, emphasizing the urgency of prisoner release and conflict resolution, which Hamas has acknowledged as a basis for potential permanent peace.
