World's Largest Offshore Platform Delivered in China

China has delivered the Marjan platform, the world's heaviest offshore oil and gas production facility, which weighs 17,200 tons and has a deck area equivalent to 15 basketball courts. Constructed over 34 months, this platform will be transported to Saudi Arabia, 6,400 nautical miles away, to enhance production at the Marjan oilfield. It is capable of collecting and transporting 24 million tons of crude oil and 7.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, marking it as a leader in offshore production capacity globally. The platform features advanced infrastructure including sophisticated pipelines and chemical treatment systems designed for efficient resource extraction. This delivery signifies a major advancement in China's offshore oil and gas technology, expected to significantly boost Saudi Arabia's energy output once operational. The Marjan oilfield is anticipated to reach full production capacity of 24 million tons of crude oil annually once the platform is fully operational.
