Ohio Bellevue Man Sentenced 10 Years Threatening Judge, Lawyers

Eric Braun, a 49-year-old man from Bellevue, Ohio, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of threatening to kill his attorney, the judge, and prosecutors involved in his criminal case. Braun's initial charges stemmed from a February 2023 road rage incident involving improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and aggravated menacing. During the legal proceedings, Braun made multiple threats against the legal professionals, leading to additional charges of intimidation. A jury found him guilty on all counts in June 2025, and the sentence was handed down by an Ottawa County judge. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost emphasized that threatening legal personnel has serious consequences, stating that the decade-long prison term would give Braun ample time to reflect on his actions. The investigations involved the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, with prosecution handled by Yost's Special Prosecutions Section.
